The short version

We collect only what we need to call, remind and alert.

Your parent agrees in their own language, and can say no to recording.

We never sell data or use health information for advertising.

You can see, correct or delete your data at any time.

This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.
01

Who we are

[Legal entity name], registered at [Registered address] (“Parentaline”, “we”, “us”), operates the Parentaline mobile app, the check-in calling service and parentaline.com.

For the personal data described in this policy we act as the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), and we also comply with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it.

02

Who this policy covers

  • Caregivers — family members who create an account and look after a parent.
  • Seniors — the parents who receive check-in calls and use the senior experience.
  • Invited members — siblings, spouses, neighbours or professional carers added to a family.
  • Visitors — anyone browsing parentaline.com.
03

What we collect

  • Account details — name, mobile number, email, preferred language, profile photo and your role in the family.
  • Senior profile — the parent’s name, age, phone number, language, call schedule, quiet hours and emergency contacts.
  • Health information — medicines and dose confirmations, prescriptions and reports you upload or scan, vitals such as blood pressure, appointments, and conditions or allergies listed on the Emergency Health ID.
  • Call data — audio recordings of check-in calls where the senior has agreed, transcripts, and automatically generated summaries and mood indicators.
  • Safety data — SOS events with location at the moment of the alert, and messages forwarded to us for a scam check.
  • Device and usage — device model, operating system, app version, crash reports and notification tokens.
  • Payments — handled by our payment processor. We receive payment status and the last digits of the card or UPI handle, never full card details.
04

How we use it

  • To place check-in calls, send medicine reminders and deliver recaps to the family.
  • To escalate missed doses, unanswered calls and SOS events to the family members you have added.
  • To assess messages forwarded for a scam check and block reported numbers.
  • To read prescriptions you scan into structured medicine entries for your review.
  • To provide support, keep the service secure and meet our legal obligations.
  • To improve the service using de-identified or aggregated data.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use health information or call content for advertising, and we do not build marketing profiles of seniors.

05

Your parent’s consent

A caregiver who sets up Parentaline for a parent confirms that the parent knows about the service and agrees to it. We then ask the parent directly, in their own language, on the first call.

Recording is explained at the start of every call. A parent can decline recording and still receive the call. They can withdraw consent at any time — in the app, by calling support, or simply by saying “stop recording” during a call. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before it.

06

Automated processing

Calls are transcribed and summarised by automated systems, and mood indicators are estimated from the conversation. These outputs can contain mistakes. They are not a medical assessment and should not be used as one.

Our staff do not routinely listen to calls. Authorised staff may access a transcript or recording only when you ask for help, to investigate a safety or security issue, or where the law requires it. Every such access is logged.

07

Who we share it with

  • Your family group, according to each member’s role.
  • Service providers who process data on our instructions under contract — cloud hosting, telephony, speech recognition, language processing, SMS, payments and crash reporting.
  • Authorities, where Indian law requires us to disclose information.
  • A successor, if Parentaline is merged or acquired, under protections at least as strong as this policy.

An SOS alert shares location with your family members only. Parentaline does not contact emergency services on your behalf — in an emergency, call 112.

08

Where data is stored

We store personal data primarily on servers in [India — confirm region]. Some providers may process data outside India, and family members living abroad will access data from where they are. Any transfer outside India follows the conditions set under the DPDP Act.

09

How long we keep it

  • Call recordings are deleted after [90] days by default.
  • Transcripts, summaries and health records are kept while the account is active.
  • When an account is deleted, its data is erased within [30] days, except records we must keep by law, such as tax and payment records.
10

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted per family and per role, staff access follows least privilege and is audited, and we test our systems regularly. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

11

Your rights

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold and who we have shared it with.
  • Correct, complete or update inaccurate information.
  • Erase data we no longer need, and withdraw consent at any time.
  • Nominate a trusted person to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to act yourself.
  • Raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India if it is not resolved.

Use Profile → Privacy in the app, or write to the Grievance Officer below.

12

Age requirement

Parentaline is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or be added to a family. We do not knowingly process the personal data of children.

13

Changes to this policy

We will tell you about material changes in the app and by email before they take effect. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy last changed.
